As an iCASE PhD candidate, I engaged with my industrial sponsor - Eli Lilly & Company - as a visiting data scientist:o Integrated with the neuroscience bioinformatics team at Eli Lilly & Company for the analysis of RNA-sequencing data generated during my PhD research.o Built data science pipelines in Python and R for the analysis of RNA sequencing data with: GSEA/IPA; differential expression analysis; alternative splicing analysis; and RNA splicing quality (intron inclusion).o Utilised an MLP neural network to predict gene expression from aberrant splicing events. o Developed a network analysis tool in Python with basic NLP tokenisation to summarise and visualise GSEA outputs.o Built a database with PostgreSQL in Python (Psycopg2) for the storage and management of multiple data sources. o Automated large-scale computational tasks on a Linux HPC cluster with Bash scripting.

I was positioned within the neurodegenerative disease research team at Eli Lilly and Company:o Designed and optimised medium to high-throughput assays for the assessment of novel compounds. o Automated data collection tasks with Harmony high-content imaging software and automated data analysis with Python scripting for visualisation and statistics.o Actively engaged with collaborators across the company, both locally and internationally across several time zones.

10-week summer research placement in the lab group of Prof. Roxana Carare. Independent project to investigate the influence of carbon dioxide-induced vasodilation on the rate of amyloid-beta propagation through the mouse hippocampus.
