About Matthew Mccormack

Originally trained in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, I have been working providing Bioinformatics analysis for a molecular biology lab for the last 12+ years. This has included performing microarray analysis, RNA-Seq, scRNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq and Cut and Run analyses. Analysis is done in part on a Linux cluster as well as our lab's own Linux server. I am familiar with writing scripts in Python and Jupyter lab and have written both Shiny and Dash applications as well as BASH scripts. I teach lab members and assist them to analyze their own data on the Linux servers and in RStudio on their local computers as well as helping them have a basic understanding of linux and the cli. Over the years, I have developed a sound background for understanding the statistical analysis necessary for reproducible research in genomics analyses. With a solid background in biochemistry and molecular biology, I enjoy bringing computer and analysis skills (those I both am familiar with and those yet to be learned) to solve biological research problems both individually and as part of a team.
