As a custodian of the SSE 11kV distribution network I ensure that available capital allocated for asset investment is spent efficiently and effectively. Prioritising investment decisions around substation and switchgear replacement using CBRM. Monitoring the 11kV network to identify performance improvements, security issues and ensuring we are operating compliantly. Additional tasks include assisting Wayleave Officers with Wayleave Termination cases, providing an engineering solution to relocation of assets and business support in order to reduce both the financial and electrical impact on the network and business.Key Project - Project Management of Automation rollout on the 11kV network. Key tasks included developing criteria for identifying 11kV circuits to have telecontrol applied. This also comprised of carrying out a cost benefit analysis in circuit selection and network studies being conductrd in PSS Sincal to ensure backfeed would not breach thermal capacity and volts were within statutory limits. Project Management tasks include in liasing with relevant stakeholders to identify potential issues that may impede delivery and to agree on a strategy on delivery and having monthly review meetings to track delivery progress, ensuring project spend is within allocated budget and guiding delivery teams with solutions to potential issues that arise during delivery. This is in line with SSE's Investment Management Process. Sub tasks also include in creating KPI report for Senior Managers and Directors.
Network Planning Engineer (Load)
As a custodian of the 11kV distribution network I provide point of connection assessments to Network Designers for both Competition in Connections and Section 16 requests, assist network designers with technical support and assist Distribution Generation Designers with POC assessments where necessary. The nature of this role also requires me to consult with System Planning for demand and DG connections of 1000kVA or more. Assisting Wayleave Officers with cancellation cases, providing an engineering solution and business support in order to reduce both the financial and electrical impact on the network and business are also part of my daily tasks.
Lv Network Performance And Support Engineer
Reviewing previous outages and identifying ways of creating a sustainable solutions across the network.Utilising various methods, strategies and processes to reduce fault related interruptions and power and outages.Assessing the existing processes across the company and utilising knowledge and experience to redesign the current protocols and practices in place.Reviewing data regarding fault related and astute information collated through GE power on.Creating effective lines of communication to be able to transfer and receive key operational information regarding the implementation of methods and processes for reducing unplanned outages and improving customer experience.Designing a policy document to explain all new policies which includes the benefits, outcome and any form of improvements.Coordinating communication plans for projects across all stakeholders looking to obtain the necessary approvals to proceed with programs.Reporting to senior engineer, zone managers and the relevant project stakeholders on project milestones and general updates.Current Software experience - PowerOn GE OMS, Business Objects and Microsoft Office Packages for creating monthly and annual reports.Policy author for LV Multiple Fuse Replacement Process at Scottish Power.Achievements:Achieved 30% reduction in LV multiple interruptions by implementing prior LV fault management knowledge, developing fault management process and implementing fault location technology which resulted in better management of LV outages and contributed to improved Broad Customer Measure Score.
Network Control Engineer
Managing Central London operations, coordinating a maximum of 15 teams of Network Field Engineers (varying sizes) and Faults Teams (incoming faults) safely and effectively, whilst maintaining an overview of network security and continuity of supply to customers. Providing a rapid response to faults on the network and minimising customer downtime. Carrying out house-keeping tasks and continually updating data on the PowerOn and ENMAC Outage Management Systems, regarding ongoing faults and planned work on the network. From time to time, running the 'plan desk' - coordinating/writing up switching schedules, planning step-by-step instructions regarding changes to the LV network to sustain supply to the public and prevent damage to the network during maintenance or repair, or at request of external bodies, etc.
Trainee Engineer
Researched into improving TC Commissioning and produced a guide that can be used to by a new engineer when commissioning a Transformer Chamber. Trained on the Corgis, ENMAC OMS and software to obtain circuit diagrams, gas plans, 1:500s and was introduced to reading wiring diagrams. Working safely with electricity was always honed in from day one.
