I began work as an apprentice Test Technician in early 2017 and was promoted to Test Technician Associate/System Integrator just under two years later. In late 2019 I move positions to begin working in software development for a Test Automation framework we developed in house. I have been working on that project to present day.My duties as a systems integrator were to perform daily test procedures, health checks, and maintenance on the systems we developed. I installed and wired server infrastructure into our systems and verified that all connections were correct, updated and installed bios, managed hard drive installs and swapping. I was basically the guy who put servers into racks and wired them up.My duties as Test Technician Associate was to perform E2E tests on the software running on the systems I integrated. These tests range from daily health checks to verify the system met minimum functionality for the day, regression tests to verify the systems overall health at that point in the development cycle, Verification Testing at the end of the cycle to verify the system meets all expected requirements, and operational/engineering Demos to test the system against real life scenarios or find bugs. A side tasking of mine during this period was to find and track bugs in the software. While I was in this position I did not know software development, so my only just was to operate the system, write down any bugs I found, and bring those to the developers for them to fix. I left this position because I was interested in pursuing something more challenging, so I joined a software development team and began learning python.My tasking as a software developer comes from my tasking as a test engineer. My job was to write automated tests that covered the testing I had previously been doing by hand. My team had developed an automated testing framework and I started out on the team by writing python scripts that utilized this framework. As I learned more skills in programming I slowly began to work more on the framework itself, which leads to my present tasking, which is leading and teaching a team of junior developers to write the scripts I started out writing, while I add new functionality and provide maintenance to the framework.
