As legal assistant, I maintained case files over the life of a case by obtaining and organizing important documents, including correspondence with insurance companies and medical records and bills. I effectively communicated with clients, insurance adjusters and medical providers to ensure the proper development of each case. I also helped to monitor clients’ medical treatment and overall case progression and alert the attorney of significant events, ensuring that each case developed smoothly and successfully.

I began writing for The Last Word as a contributing writer, picking up any story I could. As an independent, student-run magazine at FSU, The Last Word provided me with a great opportunity to hone my writing skills and continuously practice writing news articles. I soon became a regular staff writer, and eventually took over the Sports Editor position about a year after I started writing for the magazine. As an editor, I gained invaluable experience working with other section editors to coordinate efforts and produce a better magazine. I also learned how to generate relevant, interesting story ideas on a weekly basis to pitch to staff writers. My editing abilities have greatly improved since working in this position, as I have learned how to copy edit efficiently and effectively, when considering things like grammar, organization and proper AP Style.

During my time with the Times Union I learned a lot about journalism and how to craft a quality news article. I honed my skills as a writer, and gained experience with editing as well. I also got a great deal of practice interacting with and interviewing individuals for each news story, and now feel confident in my ability as an interviewer because of that experience.

My responsibilities primarily involved the safe handling on customers' cars, to and from the valet parking lot. However, I also learned a great deal about customer service, as I frequently interacted with customers and worked to provide them the best experience possible with our company. Working with a team was also a big part of this job, as it took cooperation and mutual assistance to perform our duties as efficiently as possible.
