In 1998, I completed my first apprenticeship and qualified as a licensed electrical fitter / mechanic in the state of Queensland. In the years up to 2007, I gained extensive experience in the planning and execution of electrical works on new construction projects, as well as renovations of existing commercial and industrial premises. A strong focus on customer service and delivery of projects on time and on budget were the essential attributes I developed while I was engaged in electrical contracting.In 2015, I began my part time undergraduate Engineering Honors (Electrical Major) studies at Central Queensland University. From 2007 to 2017, at the bulk sugar terminals, I gained experience in Industrial plant automation systems where the focus is on safety, plant reliability, and risk management / mitigation.After collecting long service from the sugar industry, I was able to leave, and take a part time roll as a lifeguard as an interim measure so I could devote more effort towards my studies.COVID 19 lock downs caused a downturn in lifestyle jobs such as life-guarding however it opened up doors in engineering roles within essential services. Tully Sugar Limited (TSL) provided one such an opportunity which has worked out well for myself and TSL. I graduated from CQU in 2023 and remain at Tully Mill.
