My current role includes supervising the till area, and therefore a large focus of that involves customer service, face to face interaction and the sale of age restricted products.Working with customers has helped me to develop my communication skills as well as my patience. The sale of restricted products has helped me to manage difficult situations, whilst being in a supervisory role has helped me to develop my organisational and management skills.

I actively participated in stock replenishment, the delivery of goods to shop floor and ensuring the store was presentable and tidy. I was also trained on the tills to serve customers. Customer service was a large part of my training and focus whilst working for Next. Working with customers improved my communication skills and also the techniques I use to manage difficult and stressful situations.

My role at the Fatling and Firkin Pub involved general bar work, managing the till, collecting glasses and cleaning.Working in a pub helped me to develop my confidence as well as my customer service skills. It was very important we asked those who we felt may not be the legal age to drink alcohol for ID. This helped me adapt to sometimes difficult situations where a customer did not have ID. In this role I assisted other Marshall's on the field of play and general site maintenance, and took part in the cleaning of equipment, and face to face customer interaction.This role helped me to develop my leadership skills in addition to communication and authority. It also helped me to deal with difficult situations as fights sometimes broke out as well as situations where people had to be excluded for breaking the rules.British Seals and Rubber Mouldings: Casual labourHere, I conducted stock checks, and general warehouse maintenance. As this was my first job it taught me to work hard for my money and to save for things I wanted. It also taught me a sense of responsibility and punctuality.
