The Sustainable Food Cornwall Partnership connects food system representatives from Cornwall’s farming, growing, fishing, retail, health, economic development, activism and other sectors to plan, coordinate and progress actions to make Cornwall’s food system sustainable and fair.

Covid-19 created a set of new challenges which one mentor identified as 'a very Matthew-shaped crisis' - referring to my connecting, fixing, sorting approach and relentlessly optimistic outlook, hence this newco which is just me at the moment.So far been active in social care (opening temp care sites & capacity building in social care), electric vehicle (project manage creation of charging network), food rescue & distribution and food systems development (r&d). Working with Cornwall's first offshore wind developer to maximise the social and environmental value of the Celtic Sea's 24GW wind generation capacity.

Working with the Isles of Scilly Community Venture as NatGen's Principal Designer & Principal Contractor, I'm responsible for installing the solar power systems and electric vehicle charging infrastructure for the GO-EV project. It's a brilliantly innovative project that will leave the Isles of Scilly with the highest number of public charging points per head in the UK (see Go EV link below) and should put the islands in the driving seat of the shift to electric vehicles that must happen over the next ten years to achieve Net Zero (see V2G video) .

Contributing to company strategy with a particular focus on learning (processes, practice, purpose) and impact (sensing, measurement, broadening) I will also be looking for new opportunities to develop crowdfunding's relevance and value - for social purpose partners and more widely.

Midst the pandemic, joined tiny lovely team of independent charity set up by care providers to develop talent in care services in Cornwall and Devon. Fundraised £1m+ for new services and formed a national alliance of Local Care Workforce Development Partnerships to help secure funding for better, more relevant, worker-directed and employer-directed local training and development in care services. Explored potential for synergies between Cornwall's hospitality and social care sectors going into the pandemic, to catalyse the creation of temporary CQC-registered care homes in hotels across Cornwall to boost capacity. Worked with teams of amazing people across NHS Kernow, Cornwall Council, Cormac Solutions, CAHSC and at Carnmarth, Penventon and St Moritz Hotels to get people medically fit for discharge in need of a social care package out of hospital and into this group of hospitality-powered 'discharge & assessment centres'.

Jamie Oliver's Fifteen Cornwall was a destination social enterprise restaurant on the beach in the stunning Watergate Bay. Served over 1 million guests and trained over 200 young people in need of a second chance in its world famous kitchen, over 130 of whom completed the intensive 15 months chef apprenticeship. Invested around £14m in the finest Cornish food and drink sourced from over 50 small local growers, producers and food artisans. Founded and supported by Jamie Oliver, the restaurant was owned by the charity Cornwall Food Foundation (formerly Cornwall Foundation of Promise)
