CurrentBy leveraging expertise in urban design and structured finance as a consultant and fee developer, Giese has orchestrated municipal subsidy and entitlement packages for over a billion dollars worth of adaptive re-use, urban infill and transit-oriented development projects throughout the Southwest. Across these projects, his firm has served as liaison between private developer clients and public stakeholders to develop “area-specific” urban design parameters and economic impact scenarios that have been successfully formalized into "win-win" public-private development agreements. Key past adaptive re-use projects include: JOULE HOTEL & RETAIL (Historic Redevelopment & Expansion), LUMEN HOTEL (Redevelopment & Expansion), CABANA HOTEL (Historic Redevelopment), STATLER HILTON (Historic Redevelopment) and OLD DALLAS PUBLIC LIBRARY (Historic Redevelopment). Past collaborators include a wide range of design firms (TIHANY DESIGN, GENSLER, OLSON KUNDIG, etc.), hotel operators (STARWOOD, IHG, HILTON, etc.) spa/retailers (TASCHEN, FRED SEGAL, ESPA INTERNATIONAL, etc.), municipalities, sports franchises and transit authorities in TEXAS, CALIFORNIA, COLORADO, OREGON, UTAH and NEVADA, and private transportation firms including GREYHOUND and THE BORING COMPANY.
