I represent plaintiffs and defendants in high-stakes commercial litigation, class actions, and insurance coverage disputes.My experience includes:- Prosecuting and defending many large class actions, including class actions involving cutting-edge privacy and advertising issues. Much of my recent work has involved biometric privacy issues, and I am the Chair of Shook's Biometric Privacy Practice. - Litigating cases to final judgment, including first-chairing an arbitration resulting in a multimillion-dollar arbitration award to our client; and winning a $58 million jury verdict on behalf of a class of 1500 healthcare providers. - Representing public and private companies in post-closing and other business disputes.- Handling numerous appeals. - Litigating and providing advice on many insurance coverage issues, including additional insured coverage, commercial general liability coverage, and coverage for data breach liability.At the University of Chicago Law School I served as a member of the Law Review. During law school, I also worked as a Peggy Browning Fellow at the Chicago Newspaper Guild, where I represented union members before the NLRB and in grievance hearings and negotiations.Prior to law school, I worked as a journalist at an award-winning weekly newspaper, an elementary school teacher, and a legal assistant. I live in the Edgewater neighborhood of Chicago with my wife, Kara Riggio, and our three kids.
