Through their comprehensive programs, women are equipped with the necessary tools to thrive in various industries. Additionally, Origins Innovations Labs conducts meticulous monitoring and evaluation of their apprentices, ensuring the effectiveness and impact of their training initiatives. Matthews contributions are:• Provide guidance to shape effective training mechanisms for women joining value chains and right equipment and tools that the women need.•Advice on compliance to local and international ethics• Monitoring and evaluation champion: Establish robust frameworks to measure program impact and drive continuous improvement. • Ensure resource allocation and operations align with regulatory standards and best practices

As a board member of Alliance for Responsible Mining, •His expertise in Sustainable Market System Development allowed him to advise on strategies that fostered responsible and sustainable market systems for small-scale mining communities.•He championed for Traceability and Compliance, advocating for and overseeing the establishment of traceability mechanisms to track the origin of minerals, promoting transparency and compliance with international regulations.•Assisted ARM in expansion into new territories and fundraising activities•Participated along other board members in reviews and revisions of Fair Mine and CRAFT•Contributed to their financial rehabilitation, ensuring their budget aligned perfectly with their needs.

The Artisanal Mining Grand Challenge: The Amazon is a global call for innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs from all over the world to develop and implement solutions that address the environmental and social costs of artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) in the Amazon. Matthews contributions were•Proposal Reviewer: Evaluate and assess project proposals for their viability and potential impact on addressing artisanal and small-scale gold mining issues in the Amazon.•Subject Matter Expert: Provide valuable insights and guidance based on expertise in commercial viability and scaling, environmental conservation, and sustainable mining practices.•Mentor and Advisor: Offer guidance and mentorship to selected participants in refining their solutions and strategies for implementation.•Advocate and Ambassador: Raise awareness and promote the Artisanal Mining Grand Challenge to encourage participation and support for the initiative.

(Update/Expansion)• Recycle Tribe expanded to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Within the first two months of operation, Recycle Tribe DRC recycled over 5 tons of wood waste into stylish, eco-friendly furniture.

Cocoa Congo was the first company to provide full value addition to locally grown cocoa beans in the DRC by creating the first bean to bar chocolate processing unit. •The company's products were organic, fair-trade, single origin, artisanal, and hand-crafted.•The company was entirely women- led. The women continue to this day to manufacture chocolate on their own as members of CODE Femmes

Bukavu, Drc (Congo)

The fair Congo Initiatives was project that aimed to create a transparent, legal, and sustainable supply chain for artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) gold in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).Matthew’s contributions were:•Development of a formal route to Market for responsibly sourced Gold.•Tested, Implemented and Refined 5 different donor funded due diligence and traceability systems and later combining the best of all of them, created a single system which operates in the DRC.•Building relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, mining communities, and buyers of ASM gold.•Monitoring and evaluating the project's progress.

•Founded and directed a for-profit, woman-owned company that supports women in Kenya by financing, training, and empowering them to gain government contracts.•The company handled everything from general supply to construction, and focuses on disadvantaged areas such as Kibera and the rural areas of Kenya.
