Space Habitat Design & Manufacturing Engineer

Copenhagen, Capital Region Of Denmark, Dk

I worked as the primary design and manufacturing engineer for SAGA as we designed and built a high-tech underwater habitat that serves as a platform to develop and test life-support systems and habitat architectural design that will be applied to space habitats of the future. I led the development of all structural, life support, and safety systems, from ideation, through design, manufacturing, and testing phases. I also led risk management assessments, led all mechanical system testing, and worked to integrate all mechanical and electrical systems. This project allowed me to demonstrate and further develop my engineering, leadership, and teamwork skills on a fast-paced project. A 48-hour underwater test of the completed habitat was successfully completed in Fall 2023.

Turbomachinery Design Engineer

Pontiac, Michigan, Us

Working as a turbomachinery design engineer, I was tasked to redesign a low-pressure turbine nozzle for William's FJ44 class of turbofan engines that had failed to meet standards during early lab tests. I analyzed test results, advocated for design changes, and wrote new testing procedures to prevent similar future problems. My work resulted in an improved LPT nozzle design with better functionality and safety. Throughout my experience, I utilized and further developed my CAD (NX), design analysis, and technical drafting skills. Additionally, I worked to develop my technical communication and collaborative problem-solving skills through my regular conversations with manufacturing and other senior design engineers.

Manufacturing Engineer - Global Propulsion Systems

Detroit, Michigan, Us

I worked as a manufacturing engineer to further GM’s goal of ramping up their electric vehicle production. I was tasked to design a hand-operated fixture for the EMotors lab use that replicates the capabilities of a complex production machine to form wires for GM’s next generation of electric motors. I utilized my skills with CAD and CAM programs (NX) to model, animate, and analyze design iterations. I prototyped and built parts and systems of my design to test and refine aspects of my design while gaining hands-on experience. I also traveled to multiple manufacturing sites where I increased my breadth of understanding about GM’s manufacturing of eMotors, batteries, and internal combustion engines. My work resulted in a finalized design which was built and utilized in the lab after my internship was complete.
