I started at ReliaQuest as a Tier 1 Incident Response Analyst, responding to security alerts and identifying false positives for tuning while triaging and informing customers as to legitimate incidents. Where alerts were escalated to customers I made recommendations as to how to respond to the incident.Having moved to the Core Analyst team my day-to-day work consisted of assisting some of the world’s largest companies in responding to cybersecurity incidents, hunting for undetected attackers, identifying sub-optimal practices, and improving security models. Most of my work is identifying where sequences or patterns of behaviour may be indicative of larger breaches or network issues, performing bespoke investigations in response to customer needs, undertaking 'hunts' in customer environments (these identify issues, provide a baseline of the environment, and identify attacks that may have avoided triggering alerts), training customers in the use of tools and techniques, and working with customers to help them manage their security model more effectively.

This included a number of GDPR compliance projects; auditing, consulting for, and helping to design GDPR transformation projects with a number of national and international organisations. I was elected as president of St Anne’s College’s Middle Common Room. I headed a 21-person committee tasked with representing and providing for the graduate students of St Anne's College in all aspects of their University lives: from social events, to accommodation and student welfare. In this role I liaised between students and College, and represented the more than 300-person graduate-student body at administrative meetings (including the College’s senior-most Governing Body). This included: negotiating the terms of accommodation contracts (including rent prices); conducting an examination of welfare provision and assessing improvements to be made; reducing the College's carbon-footprint and financial costs through changes to catering and estates provisions; and handling media attention and press releases.

I have occasionally been approached by organisations looking to create a blog post or other piece of written media. These are usually in celebration or memorial of historical figures or events, and so require that I quickly conduct research, produce a piece of the appropriate length, format and style, taking into consideration the organisation's public image, the nature of the media, and the intended audience.
