I lead Deloitte's Net Zero Consulting Practice in the UK, in which capacity I help executives in all sectors respond to the twin challenges of digitisation and decarbonisation. I started my 'work' life as a tech' founder in distributed sensors and gradually became a corporate strategy professional, advising leaders on how to think about digital as an economic system rather than a contact point. Since about 2015 I've increasingly focused on the climate crisis, initially as a strategic case for digitalisation but now more often because of the distinct parallels between optimising to win in a software economy and winning in a decarbonised economy. In doing so I've been fortunate enough to operate at executive level in high-profile oil and gas, power and consumer businesses and worked with the UK civil service to set policies around future fuels. For the last two years, climate positive strategy has been my sole focus.A key part of my practice is to help leaders understand how they make decisions individually and as a group.
