Data Services Manager
CurrentI lead a team of programmers, mathematicians, and meteorologists that work to solve some of the toughest challenges in the weather industry. Our main focus is to provide value-added weather products that quickly and easily tell the story of what is happening in a way that anyone can understand. We also work with foreign governments to assist them with improving their weather analysis and forecasting capabilities. Exciting current and previous projects that we have tackled include developing the most advanced tornado detection system in the world (the BTI = Baron Tornado Index), upgrading the entire weather service for the country of Brunei (2010-2012), and developing/operating the most advanced dual-polarity radar processing system in the world which is used to provide real-time information (detecting tornado debris while it is happening) to hundreds of broadcast TV stations in the United States. Like most others in the weather community, I have been obsessed with the weather since I was a kid growing up in Missouri. I am grateful to make a living doing what I love.
