Performed research and analysis on Chagas disease, specifically, the associated intellectual property, under Professor Stanley Kowalski. Chagas disease is a neglected tropical disease, of epidemic proportions in some regions, of increasing concern to the developed world. It is spread by biting insects, but can also be spread through blood transfusions and other means. It is caused by the parasite Trypanosoma cruzi. This research is being done in order to increase awareness of the disease, and hopefully increase spending on diagnosis and treatment.

I worked in Seattle, WA over the summer as an intern in the Business Licensing and Development department. I went on an educational leave of absence to return to law school in late August. My work involved:-Designing and creating database solutions for trademark and licensee information-Performing market research to determine optimal market insertion points for various intellectual property-Analyzing and recommending improvements to the integration between multiple patent databases as well as the individual databases

NxStage Medical is a rapidly growing manufacturer of electro-medical devices, primarily hemodialysis machines and disposable components thereof. While I was there, I performed a variety of functions including testing, validation, documentation, test design, customer return inspection, troubleshooting, and redesign of manufacturing procedures for improved efficiency centering around disposables products and customer returns.

Assisted professor Amad Tayebi with day to day work, including grading, in four sections of his sophomore/junior level course "Statics". This course dealt with quantifying forces between stationary bodies, such as those in bridges.

Responsibilities included:Providing ongoing LAN network support, maintenance and upgrading of campus wide network infrastructure. Helping to plan, configure, install, troubleshoot, and manage network routers and switches. Interacting with faculty, staff, and students to troubleshoot internet connectivity issues.

Provided troubleshooting advice for ongoing experimental extrusion operation. Helped make ideas into models, using CAD and CNC techniques. Designed and constructed molds and tooling used to produce novel products. Analyzed designs to determine feasibility, marketability, and material selection. Designed more efficient methods of production for small volume parts. Developed working prototypes for testing. Performed testing of prototypes.
