Researching entrepreneurial mindset and cognition. Overall I am interested in why entrepreneurs manage to start businesses and what seperates them from others.My overarching question is: What seperates those who get started from those who only talk about their ideas. This leads on to considering how might we teach future entrepreneurs in order to assist them to get started.

The DT Lab is the hub at the University of Tromsø for hands-on co-creating, co-learning, and 'co-nnecting' through design thinking. Norwagon provides experiences for the adventurous in Northern Norway. Matthew founded the company and has been involved in every step from building the campervans, making a website, sewing curtains to writing business plans.This has built on Matthew's depth of experience within the field of innovation and entrepreneurship. Matthew has a permanent column at Utropia that highlights technology and research in Tromsø.The column requires him to understand complex research topics and simplify the information so that it appeals to an everyday audience.The column has brought him into contact with a wide range of researchers and expanded his network in Tromsø. Additionally it has provided an insight to the high technology areas of research and the opportunities in the city.

Crowe Horwarth is one of the worlds largest alliance of accounting and financial services firms.Matthew worked in their business advisory department. This involved preparation of accounts, assisting clients meet their tax obligations and helping clients grow their businesses.

Visma Services is Scandinavia’s largest financial services firm with a strong focus on IT related solutions. Matthew played a key role in automating the invoicing routines of a key client. This involved streamlining a process involving 12,000 invoices per week worth over $4million. During Matthew's involvement the process went from involving 45 hours in labour to just over 16 hours, and during this time saw a significant increase in invoicing accuracy.

Active Management Norway is a hospitality based firm that now manages three restaurant/cafe locations. Matthew drove the project from the start with negotiating leases, writing business plans, seeking financing right through to serving coffee on the opening day.
