Hi there, my name is Matthew Pounder, and I am a junior at Virginia Tech from St. Augustine, FL. As a marketing major, I am passionate about advertising, sales, and am always looking for ways to change the marketing landscape. In 2022, I started a small business out of my basement, where I designed, created, and sold high-quality apparel to my customers at an affordable cost. I was able to make over $5,000 in revenue from my first two orders allowing me to “quit my day job” of being a server. Later on, this business was purchased by an investor to acquire my capital and customers. I currently am working running the social media and several marketing campaigns for 101 Lacrosse, a lacrosse event company and club, where I have increased engagement in the profile by over 50%. These opportunities are not just a way to make a living, but also a way to hone my skills as a marketer. In addition, I have certifications in Adobe Premiere Pro as well as the Microsoft Suite, Hubspot Email Marketing, and Hubspot Digital Marketing.
