I work as an LC/MS scientist for Parexel's Functional Service Provider division as a contractor for Merck in their regulated bioanalytics group executing PK assays. Primarily, I am responsible for quantitation of drug concentration in clinical and preclinical samples in support of various projects in Merck's pipeline. Also, I am involved with method development and validation of LC/MS assays for preclinical and clinical drugs. Projects I work on require GLP documentation in electronic lab notebooks and sample tracking in Watson LIMS.

I worked in Peter Deak’s immunoengineering lab on a project seeking to create tolerogenic immune cells through a new push-pull inhibitor strategy. I worked on loading new inhibitor drugs into liposomes for testing on immune cells. I collected spectroscopic and solubility data on small molecule compounds in order to develop HPLC methods for detecting the samples in liposomes and evaluating loading efficiency. I was also responsible for two cell lines (THP-1 suspension and D.C. 2.4 adherent) and preparing liposome samples for flow cytometry experiments.

I was a biochemistry co-op at Aptagen, a biotechnology company near York, PA that specializes in aptamer (short strands of DNA) manufacturing and discovery. My primary role was in the chemistry lab synthesizing and purifying custom oligonucleotides, and I also assisted in the biology lab when required with PCR and SPR binding analyses. I was responsible for pricing and quotations, material procurement, DNA synthesis, purification, quality control, and shipping. I used HPLC and solid phase extraction to purify oligos and analyzed mass spectrometry data to asses purity.
