Hi, I am Matthew Lopez and I am a fractional general counsel for early stage startups. I take a VC approach to my practice of law. I understand that most startups can't afford quality legal help so I offer a variety of ways to pay for my services: 1-3% equity in the startup with some form of monetary compensation when the startup gets funded, combination of equity and monetary compensation, or just straight monetary compensation. I also work with angels and VCs when they are looking to invest in startups. With my background working with startups I help investors evaluate startups from a legal and financial perspective. I am generally able to ask the right questions to uncover items that are missed in most due diligence processes. I finally help investors review the debt or equity instruments provided by startups for legal issues.
