Dr Turnour has over 35 years’ experience as a lawyer and over 25 years leading businesses in an executive and non-executive capacity. He serves as a Crime & Corruption Commissioner (sessional) in Queensland. He has ongoing involvement in the university sector and various charities and not for profits. In the government sector, he serves as a sessional Commissioner for the Crime and Corruption Commission in Queensland having been appointed in November 2021. In 2018 he was one of the four panelists appointed by the Commonwealth Parliament to review and report on the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission legislation. He has been researching and publishing in top-tier journals and books for over 20 years. In academia he is currently as an honorary Senior Fellow University of Melbourne Law School. He was formerly a sessional lecturer in ethics (in the Masters of Business (Non profits)) and governance (in the MBA and eMBA programs) at QUT.As a lawyer he leads the commercial and not-for-profit sections of the practice. He has worked in many areas of law including governance, tax, structuring, in the buying and selling of businesses and property, company takeovers, litigation and insolvency. His principal areas of practice now are corporations’ law, governance, business transactions and exemptions from tax. In his early career and now as a Crime and Corruption Commissioner(Sessional) he had extensive experience in criminal law. His experience in leading businesses is first in running the professional services firm Neumann & Turnour Lawyers as Managing Director and now as chairman. He has served as a director of a number of companies and community organisations. In his professional and community involvement he has served as a Senior Counsellor of the Queensland Law Society. He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Managers and Leaders. In 2017 the USA-based Nonprofits Academic Centers Council admitted him to the International Honours Society: Nu Lambda Nu.
