Founding member and Chief Manufacturing Officer (CMO) at Cellular Highways Ltd, the new generation cell sorter spin-out from TTP plc. The company is building better cell sorters, suitable for new research and clinical applications, including cell therapy, liquid biopsy and high-throughput phenotypic screening. The core technology is the smallest high-speed multiplexable microfluidic sorter yet invented - also the most suitable for automation and manufacturing.I was mainly responsible for the consumable MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) chip at the heart of the innovative technology due to my background and expertise in MEMS, semiconductor material science, optical physics, as well as working in production and quality control-focussed roles in the past.I managed the design, outsourcing partners and quality control of the MEMS chips under the required medical application certifications and coordinated the specifications and requirements of its interfaces with the colleagues responsible for the cell sorter instrument designs.I also helped to organise and run Cellular Highways' exhibitions at several international conferences and trade shows, taking a marketing and business development role to increase the exposure of and attract funding & collaborative partners for the company.

I was involved with technology and product development for clients, spanning applications from adaptive eyeware to infant care to aviation efficiency. The last 2 years were focussed on digital deposition technologies in sectors such as 3D printing, automotive and aerospace decoration and life sciences.I secured and managed several well-known corporate clients as well as project phases of up to £250k and a number of my ideas were developed as internal projects to secure their commercial value for the consultancy.I was also involved with recruitment & outreach and marketing activities.

I conducted further research into quantum dot nanostructures, being hired for and deepening my PhD investigations. The fundamentally important aim was to link the physical structure (size, composition) of various quantum dot types to optical and electronic properties for improved understanding, performance and novel applications. Additional aspects include the design and improvements to a fibre-based confocal microscope setup in the near infrared and the use of high magnetic fields up to 10T.I was also involved in the collaborative investigation of the commercial potential of quantum dots for biophysical and medical uses for which the team was awarded a grant of £5k and I was the main organiser for a 1-day conference (Quantum Dot Day 2010), for which I negotiated several thousand Pounds of fees from exhibitors to hold the event at a Cambridge college at minimal cost to the attendees.

I developed high pressure discharge lamps for applications in entertainment and architectural lighting. The work included material science for high thermal stress management, planning and evaluation of complex regenerative chemistry and lifetime effects via Design of Experiment approaches and close collaboration with engineers in both the Manufacturing and Quality Control departments.One of my developed products beat out the competitor's lamp in light yield in fixture and lifetime performance and was used for the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony.
