Working as a ‘pseudo-pilot’ in simulated computer exercises to assist air traffic controllers with their initial training or to remain current. This role improved my skills in communication (RT) and further extended my knowledge about air traffic services.

Instructing customers who are interested in flying the Boeing 737-800NG. This role improved my communication, coaching and guiding abilities.

The municipal health service (GGD) in The Netherlands carries out contact tracing to contain the spread of the SARS-COV-2 virus during the pandemic. I was involved as a chief coordinator and coach/supervisor of SOS International for other employees performing this research. Also, I was involved in training programs for new employees and for other coaches and coordinators. This role improved my skills in planning, coordination and effective communication.

Bachelor Thesis: "The Green Pilot"Topic: SustainabilityIn recent years, sustainability has become more and more a hot topic or issue. My thesis research conducted created insight on how airlines can motivate pilots to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide emissions based on 35 fuel-saving initiatives. In addition, the aim was to find out how company culture can affect the pilot’s impact on emissions and if necessary, make recommendations on possible improvements. For this thesis research, the following main question had been stated: “How can airlines improve their company culture to make pilots contribute positively to carbon dioxide emissions where possible?”.

An internship of 5 months in the Dutch Caribbean at the Operations Control Center. I was involved in the daily operations and carried out my own research project regarding internal communication throughout the company. This role taught the value of effective communication in a multi-lingual and cultural environment.
