As a Delivery Lead at Cortex I'm heavily involved in how we actually deliver our suite of products; that means a mix of hands-on development, people management, mentoring our juniors and interns, high-level architecture design, planning… and learning how to juggle it all!

As a developer I mainly focused on our internal applications, ranging from time management software to a data warehousing platform, a CRS/FATCA submission generator and more. As well as developing the software directly, I had a role in managing the projects themselves, helping to decide what to work on and how we'd approach it.I had a key role in the development of the Simultaneous Electronic Voting system for the States of Guernsey, used during our democractic process to record votes cast and the declared results of propositions raised by deputies, which is a project that I'm especially proud of.I've worked with a series of interns and new staff to help bring them up to speed teaching them our technical stack and assisting with issues or questions they have.Finally, I've done a lot of work with clients in several sectors such as finance, utilities and healthcare to build and maintain line of business applications to help support their day-to-day operations.

At C5 Alliance I was a software developer performing consultancy work for a number of high profile clients across a broad range of business domains such as health, tax, insurance and utilities. Some of the projects I have worked on are:- Working as part of a team to provide key development and support resources for a global financial services firm, generating business intelligence as well as developing new features in their core line of business software.- Developing and updating a tool to generate CRS submissions from client data, ensuring that the created output was fully compliant with the OECD specification.- Updating corporate credit card processing software in order to support the latest security standards.- Working with a major utilities provider as part of a large team to effectively test, integrate and deploy a new custom 3rd party line of business application.- Leading the design and development of a custom letter handling solution for a local health services provider.- Designing and writing the secure software development and accessibility internal guidelines.

My role at Fusion Systems was as a developer working on Flyingboat (Fusion's core wealth management application) and related systems with a focus on developing new features, fixing bugs and automating manual DevOps tasks. My role included:- Developing new features, fixing bugs and writing documentation for Flyingboat.- Designing and creating a new automatic build system for Flyingboat, which saved hours of manual effort, dramatically reduced errors in the process and allowed for a shorter release schedule.- Developing tools and utilities to simplify and speed up the process of deploying Flyingboat and other Fusion software, as well as to troubleshoot common issues.- Mentoring work experience students to introduce them to full-time employment as well as to help develop and hone their programming skills.
