The USCAP Foundation was formed to support the Academy’s mission by broadening the base of support for educational and outreach programs. From the emerging pathologist eager to gain access to knowledge and leaders, to pathologists in underserved countries in need of providing their populations with current delivery of service, the USCAP Foundation has the expertise and responsibility to evolve and impact the field by advancing its products and programs.The Director of the USCAP Foundation is responsible for foundation infrastructure, program development, and fundraising. Manage donor cultivation, solicitation, and relations. -Raised largest amount of gifts in the USCAP's 105 year history. -Increased gifts by over 150% from previous year. -Secured major donors for USCAP's new Interactive Laboratory.Collaborate with the Foundation Committee and Board to develop strategies to initiate and meet aggressive fundraising goals including corporate sponsorships and fundraising events. -Increased the number of corporate sponsors by over 400% -The Miles for Mentors Fundraising Event increased revenue by over 1150% over previous year.Develop and Oversee management of USCAP Foundation programs. -Developed and administered the first G20 Travel Award Program (Supported 20 pathologists from 20 underserved countries to attend the Annual Meeting). -Oversaw the Junior Member Travel Awards. -Organize the Foundation's grant award program.Create and implement foundation infrastructure and office systems to support all projects and operations. -Drafted the USCAP Foundation's first Operations Policy, Committee Operational Guidelines, Five Year Strategic Plan, and Grant Proposal Scoring Tool.

The National Association for Community Mediation (NAFCM) is a dynamic and creative international, nonprofit professional association whose purpose it is to support the maintenance and growth of community-based mediation programs and processes; to present a compelling voice in appropriate policy-making; and to encourage the development and sharing of professional materials and resources. NAFCM is the only organization in the world dedicated solely to the growth of community mediation. Matt led fundraising efforts resulting in organizational revenue doubling as well as membership increasing over 40%. Matt developed an International Grant Program and partnership with the JAMS Foundation to provide funding for conflict resolution centers.Worked closely with an a vibrant and engaged Board of Directors and has a key role in fundraising and securing the financial sustainability of the organization.Publicize and promote NAFCM, community mediation and the conflict resolution field. Oversaw grant research and implementation of individual giving campaigns, such as an annual fund drive and targeted solicitations to community mediation movement “elders”.Successfully collaborated with the Treasurer and Board of Directors to implement a new professional internal financial and accounting system. Setting fiscal goals, preparing budgets, managing finances and reporting the fiscal condition of the organization to the Board. Build a strong membership base of community mediation programs, community-based volunteer mediators, and associate members in conjunction with Membership committee of the NAFCM board of directors and staff.Planed and implemented a National Training Resource Center of publications and resource materials that are relevant to the needs of programs, volunteer mediators, and the public.Promote and support member-member collaborations as well as assist member centers develop more secure funding bases.

Successfully grew the program budget from $300,000 to over $1 million annually. Was the Chair-person for the Resolution Washington’s state-wide legislative committee that was involved in raising over $12 million for conflict resolution in Washington State. Implemented a sustainable entrepreneurial and innovative organizational culture. Oversaw all operations of one of the largest dispute resolution centers in the county. The Center offers mediation, facilitation, negotiation, and conflict resolution training and services throughout the country. The Center provides mediation services in partnership with the courts on a weekly basis and has developed an expertise in family and workplace mediations. The Center has developed a national reputation for designing innovative conflict resolution products including DVD, books, manuals, and customized materials. Finally, the Center has been successful in brining conflict resolution to a number of places that it previously had not been including the prison, securing housing for homeless individuals, and home forelcosure.

Director of one of the largest teachers union locals on the west coast. Represented Newport Beach and Costa Mesa union members in all areas of employment. Served as chief bargainer in negotiating the collective bargaining agreement. Developed and analyzed $1.6 million budget.

Reviewed 3rd party vendor contracts and provided assistance to Director of Business Affairs Department. Worked with contracts administration team on contract negotiation and review.
