I work to grow the Alliance for Community Trees program at the Arbor Day Foundation, which is a network of community-based organizations that plant, care, and advocate for trees in communities. We provide these organizations with education, professional resources and networking opportunities -- and we help connect their tree planting projects with the sustainability and corporate social responsibility goals of our corporate partners. In this role I also lead our relationship with the Urban & Community Forestry program at the USDA Forest Service, serve on the steering committee for the Sustainable Urban Forests Coalition, and I develop the programs for both the Partners in Community Forestry Conference and Alliance for Community Trees Day.

Nonprofit Hub is a community built to help nonprofits achieve more through collaboration and education. What started as a grassroots effort to provide education to organizations, Nonprofit Hub has grown and currently attracts over 110,000 monthly users, with an online magazine that has been viewed over 2.5 million times since its inception. Not to mention our email newsletter that continues to grow with over 30,000 subscribers. I’m responsible for the day-to-day operations, including our marketing and fundraising initiatives, for both our online community and our coworking/collaboration center in Lincoln. I also serve as the main copy editor for all educational content we produce.

I helped clients develop their voice and tone, then assist them in creating an in-depth content calendar to implement their stories throughout the year.

After spending time on Firespring's social front, I was next tasked with focusing on bringing in new, qualified leads to the sales team. This centered around starting a content marketing initiative for the company, researching the keywords clients and prospects would be using that corresponded with Firespring's product offering – then developing educational content around these keywords.Attending several content marketing conferences helped me broaden my view and understanding of the subject matter, as well as totally revamp the voice and tone of Firespring's brand and messaging.

Upon graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a marketing degree, I was brought on full-time as Firespring's Social Media Strategist – at a time where that title/position was pretty rare, although very common today. I was in charge of creating content for all of Firespring's social media outlets, and all Firespring entities/products. This included content creation and community management for Facebook and Twitter, as well as managing the company's blog – writing articles and editing those from other team members. I was also in charge of writing, directing and editing videos for the company's YouTube channels, which included fun, more culture-based videos, as well as starting an educational video series that took questions on marketing topics from our social media following.
