Since Summer 2023 I have been helping Formula re-establish a communications function. Putting together a small team to help this historic mountain bike brand, we are working closely with the direction to set up communication channels, create an identity for the company in the marketplace and set a path for them in the coming years.

I was bought in to lead communications for a restructuring of the national first-line management. Working with the programme team and accountable directors I planned and delivered communications and staff engagement through the three phases of the restructure: a 90 day staff consultation, board proposals and implementation. I ensured our messaging was timely, responsive to the needs of affected people and accessible (in Plain English as far as possible), set up new channels, built an intranet area to support the consultation and managed the question and answer process for affected people.

I worked as an account manager for this medical e-learning programme. Working closely with specialist project teams and their external sponsors I developed and delivered communications plans for a range of projects. Work included a wide mix of print, web, media relations, events and stakeholder-specific channels.

I worked as an account manager for the corporate communications team, taking briefs from policy and project teams. Managing the communications support from planning and senior management buy-in, through to delivery and performance evaluation. Projects covered a range of medical topics and were delivered through a broad mix of print, web, media relations, events and stakeholder-specific channels. As part of a relatively new function I set up processes for new projects, work planning and reporting to the board and senior management team.

I was brought in to deliver the communications strategy as three government bodies were merged to form a new organisation. This included extensive redundancies throughout the three and a high level of uncertainty for staff that could be retained. I was working within several, very different organisational cultures and a complex political environment. Working with senior HR consultants and the programme director I developed our channels and ensured that our communications were timely, responsive to the needs of affected people and legally accurate.

I was brought in to manage communications for the organisational development team. I worked on high-profile initiatives including the staff survey, senior managers’ conference and an internship scheme for teenagers from underprivileged backgrounds.

Managing all aspects of communications for the Health Exchange project, this included handling media relations for the project, writing, designing and coordinating print materials for a range of marketing activity. I planned and delivered awareness-building direct marketing with hard to reach communities.

I worked as a venue manager for this high-profile urban regeneration project, based in Digbeth, Birmingham. I devised and implemented communications strategy, offered PR and marketing consultancy to my clients, managed all aspects of budgeting and financial planning and event managing events for a diverse, blue chip client list.
