I created a ground up high availability, cross-platform OS and application monitoring solution using continuous deployment methodologies for the company's internal QA/Dev and external customer facing environment based upon four requirements:It needed to be maintainable, not something that could never be sanely patched or upgraded by risking loss of service or functionality. It needed to be both admin and user friendly, it should not require specialized knowledge to use and the configuration should be managed by commonly available and sane tools. It should have a framework capable of rapidly scaling up or down either manually or automatically as load or environmental concerns change. It needed to present a single pane of glass to the user, they shouldn't have to log into 5 applications or windows to troubleshoot a single problem.This included:Software package selection and procurement of the necessary hardware resources (Icinga, MariaDB, SEC)Designing and integrating the various applications into a seamless view (Perl, Python, RoR)Continuous deployment and testing of the design (Git, Jenkins, dedicated build servers)Training the user base using process and technical documentation I drafted (Mediawiki, LaTex, POD, Pydoc)Building a framework that ensures scalability while maintaining a clear upgrade path (Perl, Python)

I assisted with the ongoing management and maintenance of a high availability, customer facing FOIP cloud environment spread across multiple geographic locations. Principle responsibilities included:*Monitoring of network traffic to ensure a balanced load using Nagios and Cacti*Network troubleshooting*Vulnerability detection and prevention using Nessus and NMap*Operating System patching*Deployment of fax servers, management servers, and networking gear*Tier 1 and 2 FOIP customer support*Asset control and inventory using GLPI, OTRS, and Mediawiki*Assist with creating and documenting procedures to maintain the highest level of network service and security

Responsibilities included:*Tier 1 FOIP software support for our customer's onsite Biscom Faxcom Servers.*Tier 2/3 hardware support for Biscom Faxcom Servers*Use of standard and advanced troubleshooting methods to isolate the root problem with the ability to replace core hardware components if warranted.*Build, configure, and test new Faxcom fax servers and service units for a varied customer base with many different configurations.*Manage aspects of inventory and receiving to ensure that the necessary materials are available and accounted for within our systems.*Deploy and provide all support for internal employee desktops.
