I love to tell stories. Stories that expand across media and challenge audiences to immerse in them and engage in positive change.That may look like a full-scale media campaign to empower young girls and boys about their sexual health, or helping organizations best communicate the important work that they do, for example. It always means using theory and evidence-based approaches. I fell in love with storytelling before I could write! I would imagine stories and my mom would write them down for me. Even then, I dreamed of being a Journalist. So that's what I did.In 2003 I started working as a Reporter in a daily Mozambican newspaper, soon adding on the role of Deputy-Editor as well as Reporter for a weekly newspaper from the same group. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to cover a wide range of areas, but my focus were social and political stories. In 2006 I took on a new challenge and dove deeply into communication for social and behavioral change, where I could use storytelling to ignite positive transformation. As a writer, producer, and manager/coordinator, I have contributed directly to some of the largest and most impactful communication for change campaigns in Mozambique and Southern Africa. So far, I have focused on some of my passion areas, such as Public Health, Gender, and Gender-Based Violence, Good-Governance and Accountability. Filmmaking took a more central role in recent years, when I had the opportunity to join Mahla Filmes for the production of the 2019 independent feature RESGATE (Redemption), the first film from a Portuguese-speaking African country to be bought by NETFLIX, in 2020. I also managed RESGATE's external communication from 2016 to 2020, including all social media platforms.Throughout the years I have been fortunate to support and learn from the work of a significant number of individuals and organizations that are leaving a positive footprint in the world through stories that matter, community empowerment and human rights-based approaches.I'd love to share more details and/or my CV with you if you're interested in knowing more.
