Through her work in the aged care sector, Maureen identified a growing need for choices in home care and support services to enable people to remain in their own homes for as long as possible as they aged. Drawing on her extensive experience working as a nurse and manager in the aged care sector, as well as her clinical and practical knowledge of the needs of people with disabilities, she established Ten Years Younger Home Care in 2009.Motivated to provide the best home care possible, Maureen has a team of highly qualified and experienced carers who provide care and support for clients when and how they want it. The care is tailored to the specific needs of each individual and their families. Whether support is required for doing the weekly shop, cleaning up around the home or providing 24/7 physical and emotional support, Ten Years Younger Home Care is able to assist. Eager to ensure access to expert nursing care and advice regardless of location, Maureen established Top End Nurses in 2010. This rural and remote nursing service provides nurses to aged care facilities to fill short term vacancies and to assist in the implementation of compliance measures. To further support these facilities, Maureen has developed the Clinical Champion program; a virtual clinical nurse. Once a week, clients call into Top End Nurses to review resident care and to develop strategies going forward for each resident; ensuring resident care is optimised even without the physical presence of a clinical nurse.Maureen is an active member of her community and for many years was a volunteer with the Queensland Cancer Council and a voluntary committee member of ARC Disability Services. Recently recognised for her business success as Cairns Business Woman of the Year, Maureen has also received the Westpac Ruby Award and a Community Service Award for Excellence from the Minister for Aging in recognition of her outstanding service to residential aged care.
