Maureen was the Head of Marketing & Strategy for Sotheby’s in Asia for 11 years. The international auction house has become the market leader in Asia since 2016. She spearheaded the in-house marketing and brand development, leading a team comprised of regional & digital marketing, events & partnership, and in-house creative. She was responsible for the overall strategic marketing goals and directions, budgets, and branding of the company’s live and online auctions spanning from Chinese art, modern & contemporary art to luxury. In her role, she reported to the global marketing head. She had the remit of promoting not only auctions in Asia but also North America and Europe to Asian clients. Before joining Sotheby’s, Maureen was with AIG Consumer Finance Group for 8 years. She was invited to join AIG (one of her clients) when she worked at MasterCard as the Marketing & Business Development Director. She headed Marketing, Press & Communications, and Business Development. She started her Marketing career at Nestle and Quaker Oats as Marketing Manager and subsequently worked at MetLife as Head of Marketing.Maureen is a driven and strategic business leader who is highly detail oriented. She set up business for AIG in China, including the co-branded card with ICBC and AIA and the formation of 2 wholly owned subsidiaries in Nanjing and Dalian to offer consumer lending business, partnering with local banks and retailers. Maureen led the projects from scratch. She oversaw obtaining business licenses, hiring and training sales & marketing teams, and negotiating with local banks and business partners. While at AIG, Maureen worked directly with the worldwide Chairman of AIG Consumer Finance Group on capital investment in Chinese banks. She participated in the negotiations with banks and CBRC (the China banking regulator). When the AIG global financial crisis happened in 2008, Maureen was one of the few key executives the company retained, with approval from Federal Reserve, to be responsible for divestiture. The Dalian company was successfully sold to some ex-Goldman Sachs executives, and the Nanjing company was divested. Her background as a senior business leader and a marketing professional, coupled with her business-oriented, data-driven analytical mindset and understanding of the Chinese culture, has generated innovative solutions that have had proven results.Maureen has shared her knowledge as a speaker at the 7th CFO Innovation Hong Kong Forum. She was also on the panel of judges for the 2021 MARKies Awards.
