Counsels clients regarding customs compliance, including the development of compliance programs, obtaining import permits and licenses, preparing prior disclosures, and complying with free trade agreement requirements. Also advises clients on import-related laws and regulations enforced by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and others. Representative product lines include pharmaceuticals, food, batteries, semi-conductors, pet treats and steel. Represents clients in trade litigation before the U.S. Bureau of Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Department of Commerce, and the U.S. International Trade Commission, with particular expertise in litigation before the the U.S. Court of International Trade and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Assists clients with interpretation and litigation relating to multinational environmental treaties, such as the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade; and the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants.Areas of interest: customs and import law, international trade law and litigation
