I am a motivated research scientist with a specialization in neuroscience, and a strong interest in neuropharmacology.My training is primarily in human physiology and biomedical sciences. I consider myself therefore a generalist in human biology, with my focus being in the nervous system. My interest in pharmacology stemmed from it being, in essence, a form of applied physiology. My previous research experience includes• In vivo neuromuscular pharmacology experiments• In vitro epilepsy electrophysiology experiments with benzodiazepine pharmacology• Rodent operant conditioning (in the development of a tinnitus behavioral test)• In vivo sensory electrophysiology experiments and pharmacologyI am looking for work that allows me to build on my previous experience and techniques, but also affords me the possibility to expand into more molecular and computational approaches.I enjoy learning new techniques, but also find the refinement, optimization and standardization of existing methods very rewarding.At my scientific core, I am a problem solver, because it allows me to think beyond the results at face-value and look at the system and context from which they came. By refining the experimental protocol, I can disentangle the results and obtain new insights to make sense of the problem in front of me.Despite my interests in the sciences and quantifiable results, I work well in a team. I enjoy helping out with others experiments, whether this is in a teaching and supervision role, or just when I am needed. I find myself very calm in the face of conflict, which has served me well in project management, as well as disagreements within the workplace. The mind of a problem solver is difficult to shut down, so when I need to relax – I have found computer games allow me to engage my problem solving but in a low pressure setting. Games such as Factorio, Satisfactory and Dyson Sphere Program let me put that energy into something fun and use it to wind down.
