Key levers included targeted pressure on social media, directing a coalition of NGOs, leading a petition drive, and lobbying elected officials. Cultivated political champions by organizing the city’s first ever candidate forum on animal issues, endorsing animal-friendly candidates, and issuing a scorecard to rank politicians on animal issues. Organized local and federal politicians to publicly express support for ending a federal wildlife sharpshooting regime and to press for housing policies that are more inclusive toward people with pets in an official hearing.
