I'm currently a University student at Southampton Solent University, studying Sports Journalism. So far on my course, I have been studying the core fundamentals and techniques used by Journalists when covering their sport/event, such as Sports reporting, Written, Video and Audio Journalism. At the moment, I've been doing some Social media work for Non-League Football club Sholing FC and just about to start doing Social media work for Learning through sport, a football coaching company in the Southampton area. As I progress through my 3 year course, I want to gain more experience and knowledge in the field to give myself the best possible chance of employment once I've finished University and looking for work.I have around 2 1/2 years of work experience within the hospitality and catering sector. This includes around just under 2 years working in Local pubs including the Gate Arkely (listed as Woodlands Inns LTD). In the Summer, I started working as part of the casual catering staff with Marylebone Cricket club at Lord's cricket ground. Whilst at Lord's, I covered a large variety of events, ranging from working inside a Member's restaurant for a test match to a corporate conference/event. At Lord's, I was awarded the Ashes star award for my hard work during the 2023 summer cricket season and was asked to partake the Long-room champion course, for casual workers looking to step up. Working in hospitality has given me great people skills, interacting and providing the upmost standard of service for the customer. It has also allowed me to gain other important skills relevant to any industry, such as decision making under pressure and problem solving.I also have had work experience working at Clipfine LTD, as a trainee quantity surveyor during the summer holidays after my GCSEs. The role at Clipfine taught me valuable skills that can be carried on to any sector of work, including etiquette in an office environment, working projects to a deadline and use of technology such as excel to fulfil certain needs.
