Hello! My name is Max, and I am currently a Senior at the University of Missouri - Columbia, also known as Mizzou, where I am majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics. Over the past year I have worked for American Century Investments where I have been able to grow my experience in an enterprise environment significantly and gain a a much greater understanding of the technology used, how it is supported, and the unique view of being both a user and maintainer. My time at ACI also introduced to me new ideas and perspectives I would have never discovered and shown the importance of communication both internally and externally. Throughout all my experiences, one thing has remained true for me, Computer Science is fundamentally about learning and pushing the boundaries.I have always been fascinated by computers ever since I first walked into the small computer lab of my elementary school. That fascination was later joined by a deep respect for the power and versatility they have, which continues to grow to this day as I further my understanding. Everywhere we look today we can see the product of a computer in some fashion, making our lives easier in ways we often will never realize while complicating them in ways never dreamed of. Technology is ultimately what we make it, and to me, there isn't anything else that can compare to the intricacies and power it has.An inherent part of what makes technology so interesting is that to even maintain proficiency you must always be learning, and constantly moving forward. This necessity of computers to constantly move forward while building on what you are coming from is one that I mirror personally, wherein my concern is rarely with being always right but rather in always learning. I am not afraid to admit my mistakes or oversights, instead, I use them as a means to advance my understanding going forward so I don't make them again and so if they do happen, I know how to rectify them. The ever-evolving nature of computers means there is always more to learn, that no one person knows everything about it no matter how smart or experienced they are. The inherent nature of computing means that above all else I strive to constantly be improving, each day growing my knowledge and understanding more than the one before it.
