Change of job title following recalibration of team roles and responsibilities during a growth period. As a Programme Manager within the Force Change Team I am responsible for the management of projects and programmes across all aspects of the organisation, whether that be operational or organisational change. I follow a tailored PRINCE2 / MSP approach (the correct approach used as required) as suits the organisational structure and culture. I take a flexible and agile approach to my work, managing multiple projects concurrently whilst also working towards delivery of a larger transformation programme.

Working as a PRINCE2 Practitioner accredited Project Manager, with a focus on effectively managing the increasing demands faced within policing. Managing a variety of projects in areas across the Organisation such as the Contact Centre, Criminal Justice and internal Lessons Learnt and governance.

Working within the Force Inspectorate, I am trusted by senior leaders to inspect and quality assure all processes carried out within the organisation and provide recommendations as to how improvements can be made. Inspections conducted can influence organisational change and as a result I have learned to be robust when challenged on my findings. The role requires a solid understanding of policing generally as well as the ability to understand the finer detail of a particular area within a short space of time in order to effectively and legitimately inspect it. Regularly reporting to Chief Officers, it is essential that an inspection officer has the trust and support of senior leaders and I therefore ensure that I always provide valid and accurate reports that can stand up to the highest levels of scrutiny. The ability to engage with staff at all ranks and levels is also necessary in order to build the relationships needed to gain the information to be included in the inspection reports.

Responsible for the writing, planning and delivery of a 9 week training course to desk based investigators within the Investigation Management Unit. Training provided covered law, investigative skills, call handling and customer service, as well as a bespoke 2 week input on the National Crime Recording Standards and Home Office Counting Rules for the accurate recording of crime. In addition to the training of new staff, bespoke training was also provided to specialist departments within the organisation such as the Public Protection Unit. On-going coaching and support would be provided to staff within the unit as well as quality assurance to ensure that standards within the department are maintained.
