Managing information about information. I enter bibliographic data and specifications about book titles — collated and picked up from various sources; usually straight from editors — and this data feeds out to the website, bookstores, etc. This is a very varied role, including:—Liaising with editors and designers about book details and covers—Updating and taking in any changes to specifications, blurbs, or author biographies. Adding HTML tags to any text—Maintaining rolling updates to titles in relevant places—Creating reports and exporting data—Managing the information cycle, and working to meet deadlines and milestones—Entering accurate information, and noticing any errors to be corrected—Working extensively on our internal Content Management System and — to a lesser extent — on external systems.Of course, the points above are very simplified aspects of the role, but my role can be much more exhaustive and broader than the above. For example, my tasks may often involve being creative and taking initiative. It may appear that my role can be summed up as data entry, but it's actually far more than that. I greatly enjoy working with information and managing updates to the content, and my role within the team. I can see that every role is crucial and vital to a company's function, and I'm happy to support my colleagues in our shared goals, and celebrate achievements.
