I currently work as a Research and Development Scientist 1 for Luminex on the Liaison Plex molecular diagnostic device in the Chicago suburbs. My work is specifically related to an assay testing for gram positive bloodborne pathogens. Prior to transitioning to industry I worked for 7 years in academia, primarily in the Pharmacology departments of the University of Vermont for Dr. Mark Nelson and at the University of Tennessee Health and Science Center for Dr. Daniel Collier. At the University of Vermont I was the lab manager for a very large pharmacology/physiology research lab, and obtained a Masters Degree in Pharmacology. I then moved to Memphis with a colleague, Dr. Collier, and helped him start a new pharmacology/physiology research lab at UTHSC focused on ion channel function. In 2021 I returned to my home state of Illinois and began working for Luminex. I have experience in a wide variety of fields, including microscopy, microdissection, microbiology, electrophysiology, pharmacology, mouse breeding/management, genomics, ion channel function, BSL2 practices, and others.
