Principal, Design Consultancy - 16+yrsInstructor, Senior ID Studio, Visual-Communication & Form Design - 13yrsFounder-Lead Creative, online retail/custom artworkDesign Director, jet boat manufacturer - 3yrsFreelance consultant, product, graphic & exhibit design - 3yrsChapter Chair, Industrial Designers Society of America Los Angeles Chapter- 5yrsI am one of the founding 3 partners at Linespace in Los Angeles, CA. I am the product and visualization design lead. I direct our 3D design and modeling capabilities. Having managed product development teams for various disciplines, including; brand development, new to market launches, customer experiences engagement & display, electrical & mechanical engineering, user interface, prototype development, and plastic/metal part manufacturing, I embrace a diverse range of projects at Linespace. A through line of brand communication is present and forefront in my work. With a childhood fascination for cars, I explored studies in transportation design, but with further exploration found industrial design—its multi-disciplinary nature appealed to my greater inclination for variety. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Industrial Design from the Center of Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan and operated freelance design practice before founding Linespace. As a way to give back, and keep myself up to date and connect & mentor with the design community I also teach Industrial Design at California State University Long Beach.

Principal Lecturer - Duncan Anderson Design Lecture SeriesCalifornia State University, Long Beach Aug 2014 - PresentLong BeachFor the Fall semesters I am continuing my role as principal lecturer for The Duncan Anderson Design Lecture Series is a long standing fixture in the LA design community.http://www.csulb.edu/depts/design/CSULB_DESN/Department_of_Design___Duncan_Anderson_Design_Lecture_Series.html The guest speakers are a diverse group of creatives from many areas of the creative fields (not just practicing designers) We have had everything from nationally recognized design and architecture luminaries to obscure individuals with a unique take on creativity. The lectures typically consist of a 1+ hr talk with Q&A to follow. The format is completely open. Along with digital slide presentations we have discussion panels, mock marketing workshop activities and film presentations as well. Unable to leave well enough alone, this semester, I have introduced an action portion of this lecture class so on the off weeks between professional speakers there is a student presentation portion. Some of the early speakers give a lecture on public speaking and ways of giving convincing presentations. Then the students will pick a topic of their own choosing and give a time limited presentation. Similar to Toastmasters and other speaking formats this will give many of them a first shot at much needed presentation skills in the arts & design fields. This has taken a passive class into an interactive class. So far the results seem positive. (although scary for some) -
Senior Industrial Design Studio InstructorCalifornia State University, Long Beach Jan 2011 - PresentLong Beach, CaIn 2011 I became ID senior studio instructor for spring semester. This opportunity to help guide the the ID students through their final semester draws both on my studio management experience as a partner with IDA and my input as a creative collaborator. The requirements for the final semester include professional practices, a self initiated final project and senior show/portfolio. Professional practices studies will include evaluating projects for scope of work, documentation and communication as well as agreements & contracts. The individual projects are guided to balance the student's portfolio and help give them a strong set of tools aimed at the area of design field they choose to pursue. A stronger focus portfolio and presentation based on the audience is intended to aide interviews and job seeking. -
Design Instructor/LecturerCsulb Jan 2006 - PresentI developed a course in Advanced Form Development for the Spring 2008 semester that has now become part of the curriculum. The course challenges the students to develop physical forms that evoke emotional connections with the viewer. The goal is for the students to thoroughly understand and be able to express form through a language that can be translated in the "real world" as brand characteristics. This course was a first for the CSULB design Dept. in that it will have students at various stages in their academic career including 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students. This blending will give a studio environment to the course and create a synergy that takes place in the professional world. Previously I taught a course in Visual Communications for intermediate level industrial design students. The focus of the class is on developing the various skills necessary to interpret, visualize and communicate including rough sketches, design sketches and various rendering techniques. -
