I worked during a summer vacation placement as a process engineer for the WAIO Non-process infrastructure water eastern team based in Newman. This was a fantastic experience as I was able to develop myself professionally as an engineer by gaining exposure to a lot of processes in the field and an appreciation for all aspects of plant and asset operations.

At Kip McGrath I coordinated sessions with 5+ students which would involve assigning tasks and allocating sufficient time to each student. This was a unique tutoring experience which allowed me to develop my communication and interpersonal skills as well as stringent time management. I worked as an intern metallurgical engineer at the Nickel West Kwinana Nickel Refinery for my summer vacation program placement. This was an extremely education experience for me as I was able to perform a lot of lab based testing, which is a skill that I had not previously perfected to the level I would have liked. This was also a very exciting placement as it was during a transition in the operating of the refinery into producing a new type of product.
