My name is Maxine Robinson and I am an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant. I have more than 15 years working in Public Health and 10 directly serving clients, students and women and girls. I obtained my Bachelors of Science from North Carolina Central University with a 3.8GPA in my Health Education major. I was the Vice President for our on campus sexual health program called Project SAFE which serves our Eagle community. I started my public health career teaching reproductive health at the Alice Aycock Poe Center for Health Education in Raleigh, North Carolina. I revamped their reproductive health curriculum and added real time evaluation. I then transitioned to Planned Parenthood of Central North Carolina, where I had training in Ultrasound and provide exact pregnancy dates to mothers. I also provided non judgmental counseling concerning pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. I transitioned to an HIV nonprofit in Washington DC called The Women's Collective where I was a program coordinator for a city wide pregnancy prevention and HIV prevention program. I physically tested youth and held events to encourage peer leadership and positive youth development. I began my family and dove into the world of maternal health. In this experience I obtained a position with Sibley Memorial Hospital as a Certified Lactation Counselor. I revived their maternal support groups and infant weigh ins. I provided all information on their warm line and in my time obtained my IBCLC certification. I am now the Lactation Lead at Mamatoto Village, still continuing my work in Maternal, Infant and Adolescent Health.
