Hi there, I'm Max.Over the years I have been doing all kinds of jobs garnering experiences in many fields of work. Therefor, some may call me a "Master of none", though I see more use in being "Jack of all trades" than a "Master of one".Easy to be around, I fit into most teams without a hitch and with my broad range experiences I can bring valuable input on the table during meetings, but am also well equipped to bounce idea's off of.For the last year I have put most of my free time into becoming a full-stack developer. I am mostly self taught, having had some help from following parts of the Odin project. being hell bent on achieving my goal of becoming a web developer, I have made sacrifices in my life to allow me to give this path my full attention.I practise Yoga on a daily basis, go for a long-distance hike a few times per year with my dog Maya and thoroughly enjoy anything science-fiction or fantasy.

Outdoor InstructorFreelance Jun 2021 - PresentThe Randstad, NetherlandsTeam building, kayaking, cocktail workshops, archery etc.Good work to make ends meet. It left enough time for me to focus in my studies. An outdoor instructor main requirement is an eye for dangerous situations and enough weight to steer the group away from said danger. Keep the explanation simple and short, only going over the most important rules concerning safety with a little help getting started. People tend to figure things out as they go. Some more than others, but that can be used to couple people having them help the ones less talented. Though this jobs seems simple enough, it is a nice way to learn how people behave in groups. Sometimes in competition other times in more of a solo endeavour. Also, the differences between groups of colleagues vs teams of friends or families.A fun job that works for my current situation.

HandymanFreelance May 2021 - Jan 2022Installing solar panels, general indoor and outdoor construction ranging from single to multi-day projects. The work was full-time+.These odd jobs allowed me to get into a field I had no previous experience in. This allowed me to soak up a considerable amount knowledge passed on by my colleagues. Some aspects that peaked my interest the most were the processes a project goes through and the incredible variety of specialists needed along the way. I found the intricacies of planning and developing large scale projects and the political and legal games played between client and contractor astounding. Though my position generally meant I was to assist specialists at their job, this allowed me to pick up knowledge from all of them, and kept me at a job site long enough to observe the overarching process. Some of the companies I working from during this time were Hemubo, E-turn, Waterwise as well as various freelancing carpenters.I stoped because I wanted to put more time into my goals and education.

MusherVisit Inari - Huskyfarm Nov 2019 - May 2021Inari, Lappi, FinlandHandling and training sled dogs and guiding tour groups. What an incredible experience it was to have lived and worked in an extreme environment like Northern Finnish Lapland. The raw natural beauty, deafening silence, the feeling of the sun after two months of darkness and riding the sled while having your path lit by the green and pink glow of a whipping aurora overhead were simply awe inspiring... and I got payed for it!All jokes aside, it was hard but rewarding work and it being something completely different from anything else I had ever undertaken means I got to learn a lot, quickly, for being so far from civilisation brings with it a need for self-reliance on a completely different level from what this dutch city kid was used to.Winters and spring consisted of feeding the dogs, cleaning their cages while taking groups for tours around the area. Summer means the dogs get a break and the mushers work down backlog of repairs and of course feeding and cleaning the dog cages. During fall training starts to get the dogs in shape for the coming season.I stopped due to strict COVID regulation making it neigh impossible to run a farm. Also, though the work is physically and emotionally demanding, intellectually it left something to be desired.
