As the Vice President (Campus Culture) of the QUT Student Guild, I was responsible for fostering a positive and inclusive culture on campus for all students. In this role, I worked closely with the Student Guild team to plan and execute events, initiatives, and campaigns, as well as facilitate the Clubs and Societies program for students to get involved and make meaningful connections with their peers.

As Vice-President (Gender and Sexuality), I advocated for queer students, women, and the student base at large with initiatives that include providing more than 15,000 free pads and tampons in women’s bathrooms, engaging in meaningful student representation, relaunching the QUT Guild Queer Collective, coordinating the largest Wear It Purple Day event in QUT history, and achieving policy reform on Guild Council. I also assisted in the development and implementation of QUT Equity Services’ LGBTIQA+ Action Plan, and sat on the Student Sexual Harassment and Assault Action Plan Working Party, helping to make our campuses safer and more enjoyable for our students.

Watt Bar + Restaurant, The Brisbane Powerhouse

Reopening after extensive renovations, it was key for brand development that Watt was a success from a customer experience standpoint. As a senior staff member, I was involved with training of new staff members, effectively managing a section of the restaurant, cash/EFTPOS duties and venue open and close responsibilities such as float/safe counts, End of Shift Reports and banking. Functions and events formed a core part of the business, and my role included running functions from 10-300pax. These functions ranged in service attitudes from casual birthday get-togethers to weddings.

Libertine primarily uses a banquet style of dining. I was responsible for large and busy sections, execution of functions and conveying the idea of Libertine as a venue.

Ensuring at all times the restaurant was a great place to eat and drink, my role included all aspects of upper-casual restaurant service. Owner Ben Walsh's vision for the restaurant centred on consistency, every salt and pepper the same, every candle lit, every guest happy.
