Max Kleban work experience
A career timeline built from the work history available for this profile.
Account Intern
In my role as an Account Intern, I supported the Accounts Team in planning and executing a multitude of client events. The main ways I did this were by creating and organizing project components in Google Drive as well as in Canva, communicating closely with clients to understand their needs, and coordinating with vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials to achieve project goals efficiently. The other main component of my role wass managing client events such as guerrilla samplings to promote and enhance visibility for their brands. Working on a variety of projects and tasks in this role has given me invaluable hands-on experience in events marketing and bolstered my tool box of professional skills.
Plaza Support Volunteer
I had the pleasure this summer to work as a Plaza Support volunteer with the Vancouver Bandits of the CEBL. My main responsibilities included assisting in the setup, management, and takedown of fan and sponsor activations particularly outside the venue and in-game. This includes tents, tables, promotional signage, and basketball-themed activities. I interacted with numerous fans at the inflatable shooting activity outdoors and the “Buckets with Berry” program after the game where youth fans can shoot a free throw with Berry the Bandit mascot, contributing to a more enjoyable and memorable fan experience. As the season progressed, my responsibilities changed game to game, but I was more than willing to do anything needed to ensure a smooth game!
Teaching Assistant
As a full-time student and Teaching Assistant at the University of British Columbia Sauder School of Business, I balanced my own course load with marking papers and addressing student inquiries for the capstone courses New Enterprise Development (COMM 497) and International Business Management (COMM 498). I developed a streamlined system for efficient paper grading and feedback delivery which made my job much easier, and it ensured that all 120 students across my three course sections received timely assessment and support. I find great satisfaction in guiding students through their academic journey while advancing my own. I then continued as a Teaching Assistant for two sections of the capstone course Strategic Management (COMM 491) during the first summer semester following my graduation.
Social Media & Marketing Coordinator
I had the pleasure of joining Squamish Golf Simulators for a short time, where my role mainly revolved around creating visually appealing social media content using Canva. Working closely with the small business owner, we also developed pricing strategies that align with his business goals, driving an impressive increase in sales, profitability, and customer loyalty. I also provide strategic timing recommendations for the publication of social media content, aiming to enhance content consistency and engagement, though these recommendations were not always implemented. In the short time I was with the company, I enjoyed the dynamic and rewarding experience of working at and contributing to a small business's success
Director Of Events
I had the pleasure of collaborating with various clubs to create an exciting array of events on campus at UBC. From NBA and Super Bowl watch parties to the Africa Cup of Nations and Formula 1 events, along with events such as a Sports Trivia Night and a sports-themed social gathering, we at Sports Studio did our best to host diverse experiences for our fellow students, fostering a strong sense of community. During Clubs Day, I also took charge of leading a dedicated team at our club booth and effectively delegated tasks. We marketed our club's events to hundreds of students who walked by, resulting in a remarkable 33% increase in our social media following. It was a rewarding experience to connect with so many students and showcase the vibrant atmosphere of our club.
Assistant Director Of Basketball Events
My main role was to engage with our event partners and manage the events, but I assisted the Director of Basketball Events with various tasks to ensure our basketball events were a slam dunk success! From the excitement of pick-up games to the competitive spirit of NBA2K tournaments and the camaraderie of our fantasy basketball league, we created unforgettable experiences for our campus community. Our NBA and NCAA watch parties brought fans together like never before. It was a joy to be part of creating these memorable moments on campus!
Pro Shop Attendant
I was then promoted in the spring of 2019 to become the youngest Pro Shop Attendant in the club's 50+ year history. In this role, my main tasks were checking people in for tee times, answering calls, responding to emails, selling merchandise, and ensuring the course ran smoothly. I continued to foster meaningful relationships with retail players and members alike that began as a Cart Attendant through pleasant exchanges during tee time check-ins and phone calls, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere for all. I was also charged with tournament registration and scheduling for one of the member’s weekly leagues, a job typically reserved for senior staff, due to the trustworthiness I had shown in my previous role. Additionally, I aided in transferring member information from our previous golf management software to a new system using Microsoft Excel, ensuring a quick and seamless transition. My time at Squamish Valley Golf Club was an incredible journey filled with plenty of opportunities to learn and grow, and I'm proud to have played a part in so many special experiences.
Cart Attendant
Cleaning and organizing carts at Squamish Valley Golf Club was where my career started as a young teenager. I took pride in ensuring each cart was polished and positioned exactly as requested. This dedication to excellence not only delivered top-notch service but also allowed me to forge strong connections with the members. In the 2016 season, I was appointed interim manager due to my reliability and exceptional performance. In this role, I oversaw the scheduling of the other cart attendants and was always ready to step in and work non-consistent shifts when necessary.
