My growth using query and programming languages has given me a greater understanding of what data is telling us, both the hidden and the more obvious messages, and how to use that information. I’m inclined to deliver solutions that are well-constructed and thoughtful, rather than quick and dirty.As a data analyst at BASF I was asked to learn SQL. I began by using existing queries, and quickly advanced to creating my own. Soon I was made responsible for building queries to extract data to deliver to other team members. Later I progressed to creating automated scripts for heavily used queries, to markedly reduce total task time.I’m a naturally curious person, and love exploring topics that interest me, new and old. In the past year, I’ve been researching stock option trading strategies that provide statistical advantage, rather than depending upon the vagaries of the market. I’ve also begun teaching myself Python programming, particularly as a path toward greater knowledge of artificial experience.
