I first knew I wanted to be a biomedical engineer my sophomore year of high school. I had just broken both bones in my left arm, I was rushed to the hospital and need immediate surgery. The doctors had to attach an internal fixation to each bone using 13 screws. I had originally thought that I would be stuck in an immobilizing cast for months, however after the surgery and a bit of physical therapy my arm felt as good as ever. I was amazed with the medical technology and from then on I knew I wanted to help design biomedical products that could help people.
