My professorship addresses entrepreneurial mindset and practice especially in the arts and creative industries. In this role I am also addressing UdKs third mission, as in facilitating transfer and impact from the university into society and the economy.

Founded in 2004 the IEB is a research and transfer institute at the University of the Arts Berlin. As Managing Director I am responsible to for the service portfolio, operations and our organisational development.

Internet of Things (IoT) Research and Open Innovation Program Founded and lead Alphabet’s cross-product IoT program (executive sponsor Vint Cerf). I manage research collaborations between product teams and top researchers as well as drive internal coordination for one interoperable Alphabet IoT ecosystem. As part of the program I also initiated and organize the quarterly IoT Leads Round Table (VPs and IoT team leads from across-Alphabet) as well as the annual Alphabet IoT Summit which brings together IoT team members to discuss shared vision and best practices for how teams can leverage each other and address challenges. Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality (Daydream) Research Program Co-founder of the Daydream Research Program which allows the VR team to grow deep relationships with top researchers so that they have early access to results and can hire from the best teams in universities. I led development of program strategy and processes.Research Lead for Internet & Society Research programs Liaison and strategic advisor to Google Policy research projects on Internet & Society, especially Digital Asia (HK) and the Humboldt Institut (DE).

During the five years working for the Google Policy team in Berlin the scope of my work grew to include the following areas: (i) Innovation Policy and Entrepreneurship - inter alia bootstrapping flagship Entrepreneurship Outreach project in Germany (15000m2/160000ft²) startup campus “Factory” (ii) Internet Policy & Academic Relations - Google lead for planning, launching and managing the relation with the independent Humboldt Institute for Internet & Society; (iii) Multistakeholder Cooperation - responsible for bootstrapping and management of multistakeholder think tank Internet & Society Collaboratory.

Klεos @ Home (Heidelberg, 2009) provides technology training, consulting and maintenance services especially for technologically challenged customers (a high-end Geek Squad). Based on a humanistic conception of technology Klεos offers: peace of mind when it comes to personal technology (PC/TV/Stereo/Mobile Phone, etc. just work together). Since my departure company is successful but did not pursue franchising approach.Supercool School (San Francisco, 2008) allowed individuals and organizations to build next generation online learning groups. The aim was to do for education what blogging has done for publishing - democratize and decentralize it. Raised $300k seed financing round, grew to 5,000 active users, and decided to shut down due to insufficient speed of user growth.
