1. Perform a wide variety of complex, responsible and confidential administrative professional duties for the Police Chief; perform special projects and assignments; coordinate and prioritize workflow; direct and oversee office operations.2. Participate in recommending the appointment of personnel; provide or coordinate staff training; coach employees to improve performance; recommend recognition and discipline; direct the work activities of assigned clerical personnel; prioritize and coordinate work assignments; review work for accuracy.3. Provide administrative support to the Police Chief; assist with special projects as assigned; compile information for sensitive reports and evaluations; assist in preparing comprehensive reports, preparing minutes of meetings and compiling annual budget requests; direct the maintenance of appropriate records and files;4. Supervise the posting and processing payroll records; recommend improvements in workflow, procedures and use of equipment and forms.5. Screen visitors and telephone callers; respond to complaints and requests for information on regulations, procedures, systems and precedents relating to the Police Department.6. Keyboard and proofread a wide variety of reports, letters, memos and statistical charts; keyboard from rough draft or transcribing machine recordings; independently compose correspondence related to responsibilities assigned.7. Maintain calendars of Department activities, meetings and various events; coordinate activities with other City departments, the public and outside agencies.8. Organize and maintain complex technical and confidential filing systems.9. Operate a variety of office equipment including a computer; input and retrieve data and text; organize and maintain disc storage and filing.10. Coordinate travel arrangements for Department staff as needed; and perform related duties as assigned.
