About Maya Ardon
Hi there! I'm a recent Environment & GIS graduate of McGill University. Drawn by its interdisciplinary challenges and insights, I am primarily driven by the One Health approach: linking ecological protection with global health and advocating for a more equitable and sustainable future for all life on Earth. I am passionate about advancing the utility of the One Health approach through science writing and journalism. My research interests concern how environmental and land-use changes affect infectious disease dynamics. In a rapidly changing world, how can we integrate the science of ecology and epidemiology into scientifically-informed policy? How can we best promote health equity and conservation as two synergistic goals?Overall, I love to learn about global health equity, biodiversity conservation, and the challenges facing sustainable and resilient agriculture. I am also passionate about harnessing spatial epidemiology, GIS theory, and geospatial methods for environmental and scientific issues, specifically in relation to the way that geographic information is visualized. I am always open to chat and expand my horizons in these fields and beyond!
